What goes into a successful MoveupLETU Project?

Planning. “The devil is in the details.” No surprise that the most effective projects are ones that are well planned and thought out.

Sense of urgency. Projects have a specific deadline that creates urgency.

Duration. Project is usually completed within 30-90 days.

Networking. Depend fully on the grass root efforts of the students or faculty reaching out to their personal and professional network.

Commitment. A successful project is led by a group made up of faculty and students who are committed to actively reaching out to their network through email and social media and engaging with their peers and relations inside and outside of the LETU community.

Achievable. Fundraising goals range from $1,000 up to $10,000 (with a few exceptions such as the LETU Annual Fund).

Doable. Each project’s funding goal should be established based on the need, best practices, and the strength of each group's size, network, and partnerships.

How are projects selected?

Anyone on the LETU campus can apply to MoveupLETU. Projects that have been in existence prior to MoveUPLETU and have previously used informal crowdfunding methods are automatically approved. These projects include:

Senior Design

LeTourneau Student Missions

WHEELS

Buzz Club

Athletic Teams (including intramurals)

NIFA

Academic Trips

Research Projects

New projects are selected by the Alumni Relations and Development Office. Once a project is submitted, an assigned staff person may follow-up with additional questions about a project or application. Applications are considered and approved based on project essentials such as team commitment, project appeal and goal achievement potential. The Development Office Annual Giving team will provide comprehensive training for selected projects and ongoing consultation to all participants throughout the campaign.

Where does the money given on MoveupLETU go?

All of the money goes straight to the project even if the goal is not achieved. Funds will are deposited in the appropriately assigned LeTourneau University fund accounts.

Will the project group be notified when donations are received?

Each project is assigned to a larger group and each group has an assigned Administrator.  The Administrator will receive copies of donation transactions. Although the Development Office will create and mail an official University acknowledgement and receipt letter, students or faculty members who generated the donation must mail the donor a handwritten thank you card.  Thank you cards may be obtained from the Development Office.
