LETU STING Precision Flight Team
Who are we?
The LeTourneau University STING Precision Flight Team. We compete against other Collegiate flight teams at the NIFA SAFECON Competition in different aviation-related events. These include precision landings, area navigation, message drop, E6B, simulated comprehensive aircraft navigation, aircraft identification, pre-flight, ground trainer, crew resource management and IFR Simulation. Our team consists of 24 active members who all have a passion for aviation and competition. We are developing lifelong skills that will help us in our future professions and building relationships in the aviation industry.
To see why we do what we do please check out this incredible video made by a few of our flight team members, Simon Awcock and Hannah Smith!
Why do we need your support?
We have competed in the NIFA SAFECON Regional Competition every fall since 2002 and have been in the top three every year. This last year we won first place for the second year in a row securing our spot to compete at the NIFA SAFECON National Competition in May. Last year we placed 5th in the National Competition. We are excited to travel to Wisconsin where this year's competition will be held. However, we need your help with the various things that will make this competition possible for us.
- Hotel Rooms
- Airplane Fuel
- Practice Equipment
This year the team has set goals for ourselves to exceed our scores from Nationals 2018 and we want to thank you for your support that will help us continue to reach these goals.
